Installing Your VCR

Installation of your VCR can be completed through a variety of different methods depending upon your viewing and recording requirements. The following are two different options for installing your VCR:

Opt. #1 – Recording What You View

The following diagram shows how to install your VCR so that you may view and record the same channel. Use your converter to select the channel you wish to watch and/or record.

  1. The cable drop connects to the 'in' terminal on the converter.
  2. A jumper cable is run from the converter 'out' terminal to the 'in' terminal on your VCR.
  3. A second jumper is run from the 'out' terminal of your VCR to the back of your TV set.

Opt. #2 – View One Channel and Record Any Channel

This option allows you to view any basic channel while recording any premium channel. To view basic channels, set the A/B switch to 'B' and use your TV tuner to select channels.

To view premium channels or monitor your recording, set the switch to 'A' and use the converter to select channels. To view pre-recorded tapes, set the switch to 'A'.

The advantage of option #2 is that you need not watch the channel you want to record, as long as you wish to see a channel your TV is capable of tuning to.

  1. The cable drop connects to the 'in' terminal of a splitter.
  2. A jumper cable is run from one 'out' terminal of the splitter to the converter.
  3. Run a jumper from the second 'out' terminal of the splitter to the 'B' side of the AB switch.
  4. Run a jumper from the converter 'out' terminal to the 'in' terminal of the VCR.
  5. Run a jumper from the VCR 'out' terminal to the 'A' side of the AB switch.
  6. Run a jumper from the 'out' of the AB switch to the cable 'in' of the TV set.
