Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a standard technology format providing high-speed digital communications over a dial-up telephone line.

Why digital technology? The advantages are speed and clarity. ISDN offers more than two times the transmission rate of today's fastest dial-up modems. Due to the decrease in switches and number of lines in digital networking, signals are sharper and more precise with ISDN.

Shentel Internet Charges

The chart below shows the ISDN plans that are currently available. Please keep in mind that in addition to the Internet charges, your local telephone company will also charge for the ISDN line itself. These charges vary depending upon the package you select in addition to any other features you may require such as call waiting, voicemail, etc. See ISDN Line Information below on how to reach your local telephone company.

ISDN requires the use of an ISDN modem, available in the $150 to $300 range from your local computer store or on the Internet.

ISDN Line Information

Shenandoah County:
Please contact Shenandoah Telephone Company for information and service agreements regarding Shentel at 1.800.SHENTEL, Opt. #1 or 984.5224.

Frederick/Clarke/Rockingham Counties:
Contact Verizon to discuss requirements and ordering information for ISDN at 800.204.7332. Verizon may require you to carry basic telephone service through their company as well.

Warren/Page Counties:
Customers in these counties will need to contact Embarq at the numbers designated by their specific needs. For residential service, contact 877.646.3282. For businesses with four or less lines, call 877.669.4952. Businesses with more than four lines need to contact 888.232.5832.
