High-Speed Internet Requirements
What You Need to Know
Requirements for receiving DSL service are as follows:

The following operating systems are supported:
- Windows 7, Vista, or XP
- Mac OS X

The PC must support a web browser. One of the following is recommended.
- Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
- Firefox 3.5 or higher
- Opera 10.0 or higher
- Safari 4.0 or higher

The PC must be equipped with a Network Interface Card (NIC). A 10/100 Ethernet NIC is recommended. If a NIC card is not installed, the PC will need to be equipped with a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port. High-Speed Internet will not operate without either a NIC card or USB port.

- For USB connections, the PC must possess a Pentium processor or better and at least 32 MB of RAM.
- Shentel will provide a DSL modem, telephone line splitters, and necessary filters.
- The DSL modem and the incoming phone line should be plugged into a surge protection device to prevent potential adverse affects of power outages/surges on the modem processor.
