Creating Your Dial-up Connection

Welcome to Shentel Internet!

Before beginning set-up, please be sure to read all information below to ensure an accurate set-up of your Shentel Internet connection.

1. Click on the Start Button and Control Panel then click on the Network and Internet option.
2. Select "Network and Sharing Center" from the top of the screen.
3. Next, Select "Set up a new Connection or Network."
4. Select "Set up a dial-up connection" from the menu options.
5. Enter the following information:
   • Dial-up phone number (see table below)
   • Your Shentel user name
   • Your Shentel password
   • Connection Name: Shentel
   Options are available to save the password and to share the connection with all users on the computer. These may be set to your personal prefence.

6. Make sure that the computer is connected to the telephone line, and that there is a dial tone before you click on the Connect button. This will immediately test the connection.

Creating a Shortcut on Your Desktop

1. From the Network and Sharing Center folder, click "Change Adapter Settings" on the left hand side.
2. Right-Click on Shentel and choose "Create Shortcut."
3. Windows will ask if you want the shortcut to be placed on your desktop. Click Yes.
