Setting up your Shentel Internet

Welcome to Shentel Internet!

Before beginning set-up, please be sure to read all information below to ensure an accurate set-up of your Shentel Internet connection.

1. Click on the apple in the top-left side of your screen or go to 'Dock.'
2. Click on 'Dock Preferences.'
3. Click on 'Network.'
4. Click on the 'TCP/IP tab'.
   • 'Configure' should be on using PPP.
   • 'IP Address' should be provided by PPP server.
   • At 'Domain Name Servers' type:
     204.111.1.35
     204.111.1.36
   • At 'Search domains' leave blank.
5. Click on the 'PPP' tab.
   • At 'Service Provider' type Shentel Internet.
   • In the 'Telephone number' field type in the number from below that is local to your telephone service area. To determine the local number in your service area, consult your telephone directory.
     Do not enter a '1' before the area code or long distances charges will be billed by your long distance carrier. Customers will be responsible for any applicable long distance charges if this occurs.
   • Leave 'Alternate number' blank.

6. Type username and password. These both need to be typed in lowercase without spaces before or throughout.
   You may put a check on 'Save Password.'
7. Close and save the settings.

Setting up your Shentel e-mail

1. Click on the apple in the top-left side of your screen. Click on 'System Preferences', then click on 'Internet.'
2. At the ' i Tools' tab, leave blank if you did not set it up.
3. Click on the 'E-mail' tab.
   • At 'Default E-mail Reader' choose your preference. Outlook, Eudora, Netscape, etc.
   • 'Use i Tools E-mail account'. Do not check.
   • At 'E-mail Address' type in your Shentel "username"@shentel.net. For example: john@shentel.net.
   • At 'Incoming Mail server' type pop.shentel.net.
   • At 'Account Type' the dot should be on POP.
   • At 'User Account ID' type in your Shentel username. Do not include @shentel.net.
   • At 'Password' type your Shentel password.
   • At 'Outgoing Mail Server' type smtp.shentel.net.
4. Close and save the settings.
