Outlook 2002 & 2003 Set-Up Instructions
Here are the Shentel Internet settings for Outlook 2002/XP or 2003. If you are using Outlook 2000 or earlier, you should follow the instructions for Outlook Express.
- Open Outlook.
- Open the 'Tools' menu at the top of the screen and click on 'E-mail Accounts.'
- Select 'Add a new e-mail account' and click 'Next.'
- Select 'POP3' and click 'Next.'

Enter the appropriate information in the corresponding fields.
- Your name: Enter your name. This is what will appear in the 'From:' field when you send an e-mail to someone else. Most people choose to enter their full name, but anything that will be recognized by the people you send e-mail to is acceptable.
- Email Address: Enter your Shentel e-mail address. This is your Shentel user name with '@shentel.net' on the end (for example, john@shentel.net).
- Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.shentel.net
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.shentel.net
- User Name: Enter your Shentel username in lower case letters. Do not include the '@shentel.net' here.
- Password: Enter your Shentel password in lowercase letters.
- Remember Password: Place a check mark in the box.
- Log-on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): There should not be a check here.
- Click 'Next.'
- Click 'Finish.'
