Windows Vista Set-Up Instructions

Welcome to Shentel Internet!

Before beginning set-up, please be sure to read all information below to ensure an accurate set-up of your Shentel Internet connection.

  1. First click on the "Windows Logo". This was known in previous Windows versions as the "Start Menu".
  2. Next, click on the "Control Panel" link on this menu.
  3. Under the Control Panel, click on the "Network and Internet" icon.
  4. Under "Internet Options", click on the "Connect to the Internet" link.
  5. Under the "Connect to a Network" screen, click on the "Set up a connection or network" link located at the bottom of the window.
  6. Under the "Choose a connection option" screen, click on "Set up a dial-up connection". Then click "Next".
  7. Put in the following information:
    • Dial-up phone number (see table below)
    • Click on "Remember Password"
    • Connection Name "Shentel" or "My Shentel"

  8. Make sure that the computer is connected to the telephone line, and that there is a dial tone before you click on the "Connect" button. This will immediately test the connection.

    NOTE: You must then click on the "Start Icon", click on "Connect to", and then click on the connection just created to connect to the Dial-Up services.
