900 Call Blocking
Residences and businesses can request 900 Call Blocking Service to prevent anyone
from directly dialing a 900 number on their telephones.
Residences can subscribe to this service at no monthly charge. Businesses will be
charged $2 per month. An installation charge of $10 will apply for
residences and businesses.
Customer Billing Rights for 900 Number Calls
Under the Federal Telephone Disclosure and Dispute Resolution Act, you have the
following rights:
- You can request blocking of 900 calls from your phone. There is no
monthly fee for residential customers for this service but a one-time installation
fee will be charged.
- You will have 60 days after receiving a bill to dispute 900 pay per-call errors.
While the errors are in review, you have the right to withhold payment for the
disputed charges and no collection activity will be brought against you for those
charges. If the charges are found legitimate, the long distance carrier or information
provider may start a collection process against your account.
- Your local and/or long distance service cannot be disconnected if you fail to
pay your 900 charges. If you do not pay legitimate 900 charges, the carrier has the
right to block your 900 access.
- You should not be billed for pay per-call services that do not comply with federal
laws and regulations.
Toll Control
Toll Control provides you with the ability to restrict toll calls from being made from
your line unless you first enter an authorization code.
Cost: $1.50 per month.
Inward Billed Number Screening
This optional service arrangement prevents collect toll calls and/or third-number calls
from being billed to your telephone number.
Cost: $1 per month.
