Long Distance
General Customer Information
You must select a primary long distance company to handle your calls to points
outside your local calling area. When using your primary long distance company
for direct-dialed calls, you simply dial 1 + area code + telephone number.
Rates and regulations vary between companies and some companies bill separately,
so you should select the long distance company that best meets the calling needs
for you and/or your business.
To verify your primary long distance company, dial 1-700-555-4141.
You are also able to use the service of a long distance company, other than your
primary carrier, on a per-call basis by dialing that company's access code before
the number you are calling.
For your protection, you should contact our office if you decide to change your
primary long distance company. A service charge will apply.
Important Long Distance Information
- Long distance calls are usually less expensive during evening and night
hours, weekends, and holidays. Contact your long distance company for more information.
- You are responsible for all long distance calls placed from your telephone.
If you hold a telephone calling card, you are responsible for all authorized
charges made to that number.
- Bills from some long distance companies are included on your Shenandoah Telephone
Company statement. Other companies bill you directly on a separate statement. When you
select a long distance company, be sure to ask how your billing will be handled. Some
long distance companies may require you to establish an account with them before
using their services.
